Tackling Human Trafficking in The Gambia – HePDO’s Awareness Campaign

    October 13, 2024 gm.hepdo@gmail.com 3 comments

Human trafficking is a serious issue that affects vulnerable populations across The Gambia, especially women and children. At HePDO, we are committed to raising awareness about this critical problem and mobilizing communities to protect themselves from exploitation.

    What Is Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking involves the recruitment, transport, or harboring of people for the purpose of exploitation, including forced labor and sexual exploitation. Traffickers often prey on the most vulnerable, offering false promises of employment or education, only to trap victims in inhumane conditions.

    Our Awareness Campaign
In partnership with local leaders and schools, HePDO has been conducting a series of workshops to educate communities about the dangers of human trafficking. These workshops focus on recognizing the signs of trafficking, understanding the risks, and knowing where to seek help.

We’ve also launched a media campaign, utilizing radio programs and community outreach to spread the message far and wide. Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and their loved ones from traffickers.

    What You Can Do
Preventing human trafficking requires a collective effort. You can support our campaign by sharing information, volunteering for our outreach programs, or donating to help expand our efforts.
